I picked this book up at an Antique Mall in Madison, Indiana. Being a gardener and a reader, I am always interested in a well put together gardening book with information relevant to my zone. There apparently wasn’t much in the way of antiques to interest me that day, and as I couldn’t leave a building I’d spent at least an hour in empty handed, I decided to take a chance on this book. Published in 1998, it is a well organized paperback with specific sections for Annuals, Perennials, Ground Covers, Roses, etc., with plants specifically hardy to Indiana. Each listing has helpful information on where, when and how to plant and care for the plant. Every new year brings new varieties of plants for sale, so it is sometimes tricky to purchase the ones that will do well. It also makes purchasing a new updated guide a toss up. I found this book to be relevant to my area, I learned more about the plants that can thrive in my zone, and I even learned about a plant I already have but didn’t know what it was! Glad I decided to take a chance on this one.
