I
witnessed a scene very similar to this on my last trip to Yellowstone
National Park. This bull elk and his harem of females was hanging
out on a hillside in shadow, but the sunshine was skirting across
to light up the tops of the vegetation and the elk. I knew immediately
that the scene would become a painting someday. A step by step description
