featured painting: Blue-Crowned Motmot         13" X 12 1/2" :: watercolor           status: sold           This painting resulted from my two-month research trip to Ecuador, South America. The blue crowned motmot was probably my favorite bird from the trip, both for its interesting shape and its colors. My reference for the bird came from one of my pen and ink sketches and a study skin from the Burke Museum.
