SERVICES Gulletts Creek Baptist Church is petitioned to release 21 members in order to form a church in
CONTACTS Avoca. This group of believers forms Avoca Baptist Church.

  overlooking the village of Avoca.
1948
 
1940
The church is remodeled. A basement, vestibule and belfry are added.
 
1940's
Radio ministries begin. A gospel quartet of church members followed by a Sunday school lesson
1953
is broadcast on WBIW.
 
April 10th, 1949
The church is destroyed by fire. That night, the church meets at the Avoca Fish Hatchery for
evening services.

Missionary- Japan 1959 Construction of the new church is started. The first service is held in the completed basement
on Wednesday night, August 10th, just four months from the date the old building was destroyed.
 
October 1949
Regular church services are being held in the new building.
   
Early 1960s
October 1955
Construction is started on the parsonage. The Rev. Curtis and his family move in April 1956.
 
January 1959
Construction begins on a new Education Building. The Sunday school department moves into the
  building on October 1959.
   
  1976
  The church sanctuary acquires a new addition which enlarges the front of the church, and includes
  a baptismal.
   
  1996
  The auditorium is renovated with new carpet and upholstery. The front of the sanctuary is
remodeled as well as the vestibule and stairs.
 
June 12th, 1996
  The church votes to build the "Family Life Center".
   
  1998
  The Family Life Center is completed.
