Fayette County
Kentucky

Fayette County was created in 1780 out of Virginia's Kentucky Territory, and is located in the beautiful bluegrass region of Kentucky, famous for it's beautiful farms, thoroughbred race horses and historic sites dating back to the Revolutionary War era. General Marquis de LaFayette of France, for whom this county was named, served in the American Revolutionary War. The county seat of Fayette county is Lexington.

Prior to European settlement, this land was a land of hunting by many Native American tribes.

Early forts, or stations, were built in 1779 (Levi Todd's station) and 1780 (William McGee's station). Daniel Boone was also here and was involved in the forts at Bonnesborough and Harrodsburg.
