Left: Model of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem as it stood at the time of Jesus (Holyland Hotel Model, Jerusalem). The disciples remark about it's great beauty, but Jesus again predicts it's total destruction "when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down" (Luke 21:6). This happened in AD 70, and stones from the temple stand today (right) where the Roman army left them over 1930 years ago.

Jesus warns: "There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences . . . and great signs from heaven . . . signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth . . . the roaring and tossing of the sea . . . At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory" (21:11, 25, 27).
