The issue in Isaiah 30 was whether to trust the power of Egypt against Assyria . . . or to trust God. The photos below show how wealthy and powerful Egypt appeared to the leaders of Judah . . . but by the 8th century BC, Egypt's military power was an illusion; like modern France, 8th century Egypt was a nation whose glorious past hid a contemporary weakness.
