Days 15 and 16

The bathtub is in place and all of the walls are sheetrocked. Some of the last exterior touches (gutters) have been addressed. Several painters-in-residence rendered modern masterpieces of doors and trimwork....sure to be featured at Speed Art Museum any day now.

Days 13 and 14

The exterior of the house is basically complete. Now that most of the drywall is hung inside, the interior of the house looks like actual rooms. So, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Days 7 and 8

This weekend saw the completion of the siding and the soffits (mostly). The house is coming along well. Thanks to all of the volunteers for coming out.

Another weekend of building.....this weekend was capped by a special visit from the 3rd-5th graders. As part of their weekend retreat, the kids brought some special gifts and had a great time. It was a great experience for everyone involved.

The windows have been sealed and the interior of the house has been blocked. Jimm Cox says the house will surpass all current requirements for energy efficiency----as well as being Energy Star compliant. In other words, if it can be sealed, taped, or caulked, it has been.
We also received a fundraising boost this week in the form of a big gift from the Pass It On Kids Sale----THANK YOU! Of course, thank you to all of the folks who contributed to the Pass It On Kids Sale.

Fern Creek Baptist Church and Crossroads Mission pre-fabricated the walls for the house. With the walls delivered to the site, Raise the Roof weekend is ready to go.

The Foundation

The footprint of the house is taking shape. The hole in the ground in March is now a fully-formed foundation. Now, all we have to do is----well, just build the house. Sign up now to be a part of it!

The Dig

The excavation is under way. Professional contractors are currently performing preparations for laying the foundation and incorporating the utilities. This type of highly skilled professional work will be completed before CCUM begins our part. Stay tuned for more updates as we look forward to raising the roof on April 24 & 25.
