Swinging Gate is using a moveable object to push or pull on to increase the power of a technique. Jack Savage has extended the concept to apply to using fixed objects. In this section a real Swinging Gate is used to see if a swinging gate really helps movement. The control was a standard Kuta punch where Nage took the largest possible step forward.

With the control Nage was able to go 66 inches. With the gate nage covered 72 inches. That is a 9% improvement. This is in agreement with the results of the other applications of Swinging Gate which is about a 10% improvement using the gate principle.
