Epilogue

On April 14th, 2005, James and Suzanne Gutman requested the presence of approximately 200 family and friends to attend the wedding of their daughter Marcella Elizabeth to Jordan Taylor Hanson. The wedding was a candlelit affair with the bride and groom both signing their vows. Marcy recited hers as well and Isaac spoke to the congregation as Taylor said his.

At the reception, Isaac, Lee and their daughter, who had her mother's beautiful black hair and her father's infectious smile, danced together. They'd married three years previous and Ida Leanne was born eighteen months after. When it was time to cut the cake Marcy's brothers had laughed 'til they'd cried when she'd smashed the cake in has face, and Taylor had laughed in return when Greg had caught the garter. He and Sonya would be next. Avery caught the bouquet, narrowly keeping it out of the clutches of Jessica who "needed it more!" At 16, Jessica was a beauty with hair like her mother's and a killer fashion sense, keeping her brothers on their toes at all times. Mackenzie was busy escorting Zoe from table to table collecting as many Hershey Kisses as she could stuff into the tiny beaded purse she carried that matched her flower girl dress.

When the time came for the bride and groom to have their first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Hanson, Kim took a microphone, Isaac got his acoustic guitar and he and Zac would share a microphone as well to harmonize with her. The song was one that they all felt said everything about the couple and their relationship. There wasn't a dry eye in the place as every ear heard the lyrics that could have been written for them alone.

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall
You say it best.. when you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd (the crowd)
Try as they may they can never define
What's been said between your heart and mine

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall
You say it best.. when you say nothing at all

Taylor believed it was the most wonderful day of his life until nine months and two weeks later, after seventeen hours of labor, Marcy gave birth to 8 pound, 6 ounce Melody Diana. As she came into the world kicking and screaming, he thought she had the most beautiful voice he'd ever heard.
