Season Recap -- 2001-02

After losing 4 starters, 80% of their starting players' point production, and 89% of their rebounding from a team that finished 31-8 and finished #4 in the state of Illinois, many thought that this year would be a rebuilding year for the Streaks. Not so....unless you consider a Sweet Sixteen appearance a rebuilding year. The Streaks did just that finishing the year 29-6 and ranked #11 in the state.

Along the way, Galesburg collected their 15th consecutive regional championship, and 8th straight sectional championship. Both pretty impressive feats. With no true stars on the team, Galesburg relied on a formula of team play and balance.

Senior Shannon Williams (12.5), juniors Annie Parkin (10.1) and Amanda Gunther (7.6), and sophomore Jenna Bicego (7.4) provided the majority of the scoring punch for the Streaks.

Galesburg coach Evan Massey, collected his 500th win of his career along the way.
