Season Recap -- 2000-01
Galesburg entered the DeKalb Super-Sectional with three straight Western Big 6 Conference titles, 14 straight regional championships, six straight sectional championships and five straight state tournament appearances under its belt.
The Silver Streaks finished 31-8 and were led by 6-foot senior Sarah Pacheco (17.5 ppg) and 5-8 junior Shannon Williams (11.0 ppg). The veteran-laden Streaks also featured seniors Ashley Shepherd (12.5 ppg), Shanell Jackson, and Rachel Bicego. Pacheco and Shepherd have verbally committed to play for Illinois Central College this fall.
Galesburg is coached by Evan Massey, who sports a career record of 483-186 after 23 years at the school. Galesburg's higest finish at state, second, came in the 1998-99 season. Last season, Galesburg finished 34-4 overall and fourth in the tourney. Galesburg has won 20 or more games 14 straight times and posted 30-win seasons in 1996-97, 1998-99, and 1999-2000.
After losing five games before Jan. 1, the Streaks won 19 of their last 20 contests before fininshing in fourth place.
