Why I'm Not a Christian

Why would we include articles by those who are not Christians? Our belief is that, in order to reach them, we must take the time to listen to them. We can learn a lot from them and they need to be heard. They have legitimate objections and questions that deserve to be addressed. We think it would be beneficial if churches would bring non-Christians in to stand before the congregations and express their hearts.  It would help them and, at the same time, help us to better be prepared to respond to them. Radical thinking? I guess so. Since we have always thought this way, we decided to be radical and let them have a voice on our website. If you'd like to let us know why you're not a Christian, email us at luke418@insightbb.com.

(1) Why I'm Not a Christian
I would like to say that I am definitely not against religion at all. I have met some really nice people who are religious and some, not so nice. I do, though, have some difficulties with the Christian position. (More)

(2) Why I'm Not a Christian
My religious background began with my mother teaching me about the Catholic religion.  As a young child, I would drift off looking at the statues, hoping that they might spring to life to tell me something important.  (More)

(3) Why I'm Not a Christian
I'm neither an atheist nor theist. I'm an agnostic. I'm at a stage where I am finally comfortable! I view a supreme being like I do life in outer space: I really don't know if it exists (I must admit that it seems far-fetched), but I'd be naïve to think it was impossible! How can anyone say that they "know" the absolute truth?  (More)

Why I'm Not a Christian

The most important and simple reason is that it's just not who I am right now.  My life experience has made me who I am and I think I'll play it by ear.  Another good reason is church.  I've been to a few churches that called things "sin" that I know the bible never mentions.  I think that one man's conviction may not be another man's downfall.  Also, everyone knows that church is usually the best place to get your gossip.  I'm not saying this about every church, just most I know.  I think Christians would have a better reputation if they got in touch with what God really wants from them and left church out of it.

So, in short, I talk to God and try to listen but being a Christian is not something I'm going to do just to do it.  If or when it happens, it will be because it feels right.
