Wacky Postal Worker Characters

The links go to the Internet Movie Database. I could use help coming up with more memorable characters.

Cliff Clavin of Cheers (John Ratzenberger)

Who can forget Cliff? The was a fountain of useless, incorrect knowledge. The thing I remember about him was he ALWAYS had his route keys, even at night when he wasn't working.

Newman of Seinfeld (Wayne Knight)

Newman was quite a character. He once put up "The Son Of Sam's" mailbag in a bet. Newman said he used to work with David Berkowitz. One time Jerry carried his route with disastorous results. Newman and Kramer also stole a postal truck to take pop bottles to Michigan to get a higher refund than they could in NYC.

Oren Starks of Postal Worker (Brad Garrett)

Oren was one strange guy. He tape recorded the dogs that barked at him and everyone he confronted on his route. Would he "go postal" and kill his coworkers?

Herman Dooly of Dear God (Tim Conway)

Actually there were a bunch of "postal workers" in this dreadful movie. They worked in a dead letter office and let's just say it wasn't very realistic.Tim Conway was a letter carrier in the movie. Hat tip to Mike Condon and Gary Mills

Kyle Everett on Crossing Jordan (Jeff Perry )

in this episode. Kyle was a demented letter carrier that kept a boy he snatched from his route chained up in his basement. He wanted to castrate the boy and kidnap a woman from his route to give the boy a "mother". This character "inspired" me to create this page.Hat tip to Rick Condon for correcting the actor's name.

Willie the one eyed mailman on My Name is Earl

He appeared briefly in the first season's finale. He was seen dumping mail into a trash can when he spotted the $100,000 lottery ticket. If he had two eyese, maybe he would have had the depth perception needed to allow him to pick it up.

Burt Clayton of Bless This House (Andrew Dice Clay)

This was a short lived show in 1995-96. It looks like only 16 episodes aired. Hat tip to Mike Condon

Mr. Wilson of Dennis the Menace (Joseph Kearns)

Mr Wilson was a retired letter carrier. Hat tip to Dale Carroll.

There was a movie years ago (early 80s?) of a letter carrier that barricaded himself in his house to fight the IRS. He eventually realized his lifelong dream and turned into a tree. I think it might be Harry's War. This sure sounds like it, but nothing I've seen online mentions that he was a letter carrier.
