Westphal Works

Though not as elaborate as I would have liked to make the piece, the scroll to commemorate the Knighting of Sir Marcus Von Westphal stays true to the time period which it was suggested that I work in while still combining personal elements of importance.  In order to offset the simple elegance of mid-14th century English illumination I "kicked it up a notch" by being  more authentic in my mediums.  I truly enjoyed creating the otters playing in the bottom of the border, and hope that I rendered a fair representation of Marcus, as I tried to match the figure's attire to a picture that I found of him.  Sir Marcus sent me a lovely brooch made by his own hand along with a thank you note for this piece.  A few months later he also commissioned me to make a Purple Fret scroll for his Lady Meg which can be seen by following the link button below.
