Royal MissivesIt's always good to do a project that's a little different and stretches your abilities. I received a request from the Dragon Signet to do the calligraphy on two missives that will be sent to the Crown Princes of other Kingdoms. I’m loving this assignment, because I find it to be a look for into the daily life of a medieval scribe in the service of a Royal. Not to crank out award documents or to decorate a manuscript, but to pen a letter from the words of HRH that will be sent across the land to another Kingdom. I just think that it’s so cool. Below you will find the missives to the Crown Prince of Atlantia and Meridies. They have been penned in black waterman ink on paper from a paper maker that was founded in the Middle ages and still produces today. The text is highlighted with Cadel lettering and my signature hand which is somewhere between a Franktur and Batarde.
