MR. SPENCER
by Adam Watson
Martin Spencer, deathly ill,
Was full of stress and worry
Decided that he needed prayer
And found God in a hurry.
Went to chapel, fell on knees
With knitted brow and choking sobs
Pleaded Him to show His pity
For Martin Spencer, from the city.
He soon got better, sickness
left
And Martin Spencer nearly wept --
Yet Mr. Spencer, out of pride
Went by a church but not inside.
