FOURTH PERIOD, LOOKING
by Adam Watson
Windows provide momentary comfort of escape
For tired schoolboys and lonely wives
Even when the skies shudder and pale
To drabby hues, and
graying haze.
While my daydreams graze
On afterthought fields,
I turn the Windowvision on again
To snowy reception and dewy twigs.
A hiss of steam from heavy sighing
The collected breath on glass translucent
From an open mouth and sleepy tongue
With my forehead on the pane.
