FRIGHTEN THE HORSES AND OTHER PLAYS
by
Adam Watson

"I found [Watson's] work to be of the utmost quality . . . Adam's play was chosen out of 60 plays submitted for the festival and the reviews for 'The Birdbath' were among the best."  -- Juergen K. Tossmann, Producing & Artistic Director of Bunbury Theatre

Louisville, Kentucky, December 3, 2001 - Ron Whitehead, an internationally known author and activist, has described Adam Watson as "a rising star, a brilliant poet!"  Watson's new book Frighten the Horses and Other Plays is first a token of appreciation to his vibrant hometown: the three plays are set in Louisville. Frighten is also an attempt, in dramatic terms, to examine the problems that deeply vex its author: the responsibilities of parenting, the limitations of stereotype, the flexibility of truth, and the difficulty of love.

In "The Birdbath" (produced for Bunbury Theatre's Tenth Anniversary 10-Minute Play Festival in 1995, when Watson was only twenty-one), a father and son attempt an impossible reconciliation in a funeral's aftermath. In "Frighten the Horses," Jazz Vitale is a self-destructive liar, unable to maintain an honest relationship. When he sets his sights on Sammy "Blush" Davis, a beautiful lesbian, Jazz attempts an outrageously false identity - one last time! - in his quest for "true" love. And a new couple discover a modern danger of millennial dating when it is revealed "Your Browser Refreshes Every Thirty Seconds."

Frighten the Horses and Other Plays is now available from your favorite bookstore, from online merchants such as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble (bn.com), or from the publisher directly. The author can be contacted through his website: www.adamwatson.org.
