Temple Mount in Jerusalem (above) is traditionally the Mount Moriah of Abraham's day, where God sent Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. The gold-domed building is the Dome of the Rock, which houses the rock (right) upon which Abraham traditionally laid his son to kill him. According to Moslem tradition, this rock is also the place from which Mohammed embarked on his night journey to heaven.

The Mosque of Machpelah in Hebron (below, left) is built over the traditional Cave of Machpelah, which Abraham purchased as a burial site. The traditional Tomb of Sarah (below, right) is contained within the mosque.
